Just read it. Does anyone else think that this idea might have gone over better if they had explained how the stat conversions were going to work? For example, I'd be fine with an Oh card with 29 HRs. But I was afraid there was going to be an Oh card that would rival Ruth and Bonds, which would have been ridiculous
The thing for me is while I could believe that sufficient research existed to draw equivalencies for the NeL players I do not think a handful of players going over to Japan and playing a handful of games provided enough contextual information to provide accurate equivalencies.
Bottom line prior to recent history of Ichiro and Yu most who have come to the states have not matched their numbers from over the ocean. And Japan has been a destination for players who washed out of MLB but fared quite well there. So well in fact Japan had a limit on the number of foreign players each team could have so as not to overly prevent native born players from opportunity to play.
