Cadillac seasons only exist for seasons where SOM has L-R splits, etc. available. Generating this information for seasons before the rise of Stats, Inc. is difficult. You can see for yourself that even bbref has some years where the only "splits" available are hitter splits for games against LHSP and RHSP. See this link: http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/coverage.shtml. And bbref has a large number of researchers contributing; SOM just has Hal. Personally, I think it's a miracle that the 1911 season is "cadillac." He had to find a scoresheet for every game, and then transcribe the data accurately.

There flat-out aren't many seasons left that would impact the $200 MM plus games. Ignoring, of course, the fact that most Ruth seasons could play in them, and some other seasons for many of the high-end cards.

As to "changing" the strategy, that can't really be done without running the risk of ruining the game. The idea was to level the playing field for different strategies so that many strategies can succeed at the mid-caps. The first steps were halting, so as to not create complete chaos among the user group. I lobbied hard to have Kirby Higbe, for example, bumped up to about $4.75 MM but they (wisely, I think) decided to go slower.

Besides, there is no single action they could have taken that would have satisfied everybody. So all of the outrage I see here is in and of itself, in my opinion, outrageous.

winning in these leagues will be that more challenging-everybody now has an all-star team at 100m and up that can compete in any environment

Thanks, Johnny B, you just validated what I said SOM was trying to accomplish.

Dont agree with either of these statements.

First- There are plenty of players, as has consistently been pointed out that would in fact do that. Guys who dont already have a high-end card- too many to list who are now marginal would make a big impact.

Secondly- the outrage here is more than justified. Continuing to ignore the community is the major issue that has not
been addressed in over 2 years.

We still don't even have an answer about why the community requests were largely ignored. (BTW- I didnt request anyone- its the COMMUNITY requests and surveys that matter.)

BTW- RBurgh- I dont want to seem angry with you even though I disagree- the fact is that not a single soul from SoM has come on here to answer the many questions and issues people have with 8; its THE continuing biggest issue we have.
SOOOO much could get solved with a dialogue.

I would agree that it would be impossible to generate cadillac cards for seasons where L-R results were not available.
But not sure that information not being on bbref is proof it does not exist. Hard for me to believe that Stats or Elias would not be able to produce that information if asked for it. Yes, they would charge but statistics is basically the raw material from which strato products are made. Considering the price for a cdrom cadillac season is double the price of a chevy season the investment would have returns.

But of bigger concern for me is why so many of the top pitching cards are from turn of the century seasons where such data might not be available. With athletes getting bigger and stronger all the time shouldn't there have been more great seasons turned in by pitchers since WWII? Gotta believe for a variety of reasons modern era pitchers are getting short end of the stick in the creation of cards.

Polls used to generate 200+ responses.

Way too little, much too late.

I think for the most part, customers who play lower caps are satisfied. And those of us who play 200m+ and live draft are the most disappointed as there was little offered to us.

Price Changes?

That's the thing that isn't griped about enough. I wanted comprehensive new prices rather than just tick a few cards up or down. This does not create a new market. I haven't launched a new team yet becuase...whats there to do? I want the new cards but the old ones.....I only want if they're better values or something. Everyone that stayed stagnant (90+% of significant cards), seems like a bad or at least boring value. REPRICING across the board!!!! This is NOT a new version.

So RedRum, us 80 and 100 mil players are likely not satisfied. The most important metric at that cap is price and the half-baked changes in the pricing leave me blah. Same must go for everyone else as barely even one 80 mil DH league has gotten off the ground.

So are you saying if a player was fairly/accurately priced at say 8 mil he should have been jumped or reduced 2 or 3 mil anyway to create a set of new "value" players? I suspect 90% of the cards received only minor adjustments because 90% of the cards were already accurately priced. And if that is the case should have received only minor adjustments.

Prior to ATG8 I did not realize there was such a difference in expectations/goals in repricing. For me it was about making some adjustments where the formula had failed because whatever factor was not measured well by it. But clearly for some it was just about making things different for the sake of different.

I suspect no matter what strat had done it was going to be impossible to satisfy both those groups.

I suspect both groups would have been happy with:
Some sort of platoon option that works.
Different steal settings for 2nd, 3rd, and home.
Ability to set different lineups. I see 24 L/R lineups for a 24 team league may not be easy to get in the game, but how about just 4 away L/R options?

Since I play mostly $60M, and only 1 or 2 teams at a time, the only thing I've seen is bad news for Mickey O'Neill, but I haven't gone over the cards with a fine tooth comb. I'll probably realize some favorites are priced out of low caps, and will find the great values when checking the leaderboards :D
