True. But that year he hit 2 HRs against righties and none against lefties. The gap shrinks just a little as you move across his slash line. OBP is a little closer and SLG even a little closer. That tends to shift the balance rating toward the right. The chevy card made him look like a significant doubles hitter which he wasn't. Cadillac season cards when based on small sample sizes tend to also take in to account the surrounding and career performance of the player.

Remember the cadillac seasons are a complete redo of the card with the goal of being more accurate, not just fancier. The cadillac seasons were not put together with a view to how the card would impact the online game. In theory they were put together to more accurately reflect the player. If it so happens that the card becomes better or worse for the online player unfortunate but not a reflection of bad performance toward the online game.

And remember the balance ratings do not really impact play. It is just an artificial number generated by some mysterious formula that takes who knows what in to play. Could not only include power numbers but types of outs as well. Who knows?

The Alou card is problematic. Normally when a player played for two (or more) teams in a season, we get the complete season, not just the stats for one of the teams. Alou's whole season slant line should be: .282/.304/.350.

vs. RHP .227/.265/.299 (2 hrs in 97 abs)
vs. LHP .364/.364/.424 (4 doubles in 66 abs)

Historically that is true George. And it is probably especially true given that he was a part time player with what strat would consider a small sample size. The cadillac version of the card would take in to account his full stats for that year and as noted previously recent seasons and career tendencies.

Bottom line I am saying this is typical of what strat does with cadillac cards in seasons where there was limited playing time to base the card on. Getting the more advanced cards on vast majority of cards is a definite plus as pitchers who induced a lot of double plays will get some gb(A) on their card and all hitters will have them reduced.
