I don't think you have enough bal R rh power for your park. your big gun, DiMaggio is better against lefties and I think you will see fewer than normal in that park, unless everyone else just has 4-man rotations they never juggle. even then, 60-70% of starters will be RH which will tend to suppress your RH power, which I don't think you have enough of.

don't drop Morton or he might come back to haunt you

not sure why you need 4 SSs either.

I did this fast and would probably get at least 1 or 2 stronger RHSPs and it didn't paste too neatly

Wow. We are definitely polar opposites in making a team. I don't build my teams to be dominate just in my park. I find when I do that it bites me in the butt in the POs. I want my teams to be able to win away games. Therefore I look at it differently. I changed Joe D and McPhee into Alou and Hornsby by downgrading the pitching slightly. Thanks for the input.

The 4 SSs were there just because they were .50 guys. I never finalize those guys until the rest of the lineup's done.

well, different strokes for different folks, right?

when I am concerned about winning on the road, I compute the weighted average road park and weighted average park i will play in

its a little complicated (too boring to read) to post here, but, anyway, I find it better to build my team to dominate at home, I figure if it is a decent team, it will play .500 on the road so if I clean up at home, I will be in the race.

here is one of mine that is doing well:

At one time right after the autodraft I input in to an Access database a number of things with ballparks for all teams along with other information about my team. It would then do a calculation based on the number of games I would end up playing in each park to come up with an average ballpark rating. I then adjusted my team accordingly.

I almost exclusively plan for winning in my park. Since I play 81 games there compared to just a handful in the other teams parks I want to dominate when I play at home. The only time I will take much consideration into the other parks in my division is if there is 2 or more of the same park. You are only doing your opponents a favor by trying to be competitive in their parks. They will have a better built team for their park than you do and you will have lessened your advantage in your park when they come to town. My top piece of advice for any strat player is to build your team around your park. As for the playoffs it is a crapshoot anyway and I just try to win more games so I have home field advantage in the playoffs. It is not an exact science but that is my gameplan.

The discussion about building teams around home parks vs winning on the road spurred me to do an analysis. Using the 2014 Barnstormer's tournament as my sample, I looked at all 76 leagues that participated and compared the home wins vs road wins for each of the four playoff teams in each league (total of 304 teams). The average win total was 90.7 (.560) with 49.3 coming at home (.609) and 41.4 on the road (.511). Of the 304 playoff teams only 7 (2%) had fewer than 41 home wins, while 132 (43%) had fewer than 41 road wins.

As far as who went on to win the league championships, it did appear to be more of a crapshoot as 18 (23.6%) of the 76 champions were wild cards. However, the average win total for the 76 league champions did slightly exceed the average wins for all playoff teams: (91.5 overall, 49.7 at home, and 41.8 on the road).

You put some work in to that eveldrive. Might want to keep in mind that the computer gives an advantage to the home team (about 5% if I remember right). We could probably debate all day about whether that is sufficient to account for the difference you noticed. I have no idea how one might truly know either way. My gut says insufficient to account for it all so would be inclined to say your research does show building to win at home contributes to a winning team.
