Well, to put to rest the incredible suspense, I will here and now reveal that the HOF SS with the most errors was Bobby Wallace. The one of this group with the most DPs (by far) was Rabbit Maranville.

Here's the results:

    Wallace 1825G 685 E 640DP .938 FA
    Tinker 1746G 635E 671DP .938FA
    Honus 1887G 676E 766DP .940 FA
    Maranville 2153G 631E 1188DP .952FA

So, Wallace has more errors than Honus, but not by much. Tinker's DPs are unremarkable in this group--in fact, near the bottom. Rabbit looks like by far the best defensive SS, and he may have been, but his numbers look better in part because he played until 1935 (1912-1935), well into an era where fielding numbers were improving and there were more DPs. All of the other careers were contemporaneous and over by 1918.
Rabbit's FA's go steadily upward from early in his career to later. In his first full season he was .938 and in his last full season .971 (though by then he was playing 2B). Quite a difference!
