So why not create a "master election list" that will ensure better selections down the road? I mean, we've waited this long.....

A master list.... like what Geaorge has created and so many of us voted on over the years. I participated in those votes even though at the time I commented that Strat would never care what we were doing.

In my opinion, which means nothing because nobody will ever listen, we do not need all this red tape.

Simply do this. Immediately give us any card from an MVP or Cy Young season we do not already have. Then every other month give us the 30 hitters from George's lists who have garnered the most votes over the years and the top 24 pitchers. That is 54 new cards every two months. Or 2 teams worth of the best players/cards ever, befitting of the ATG label.

But we need bench and role players and cards for lower salary caps too. So every other month between the previously mentioned cream of crop from George's lists give us 2 full teams that were in the world series but not yet in ATG. The goal would be to eventually give us every world series team ever.

Follow this simple plan and there is no further need for committees of elite people deciding for me who I want. And best of all you could lay out a public plan of what cards would be showing up when.

Give me George's spreadsheets and the list of full teams we already have in and I will do the work of laying out a schedule for monthly adding 50 cards. Then all anyone needs to do is the busy work of entering the cards in the the card database. Heck, give me access to the database and I might even do that busy work as well.

It will be what everyone wants because it will be derived from the voting they/we have already done. Then instead of resources going to this complex card selection process I have been reading about strat can focus on legitimate new features and improvements that more people want and would take the game to another level of greatness.

But without the new process and the disregard of all of the previous suggestions, the company would have to actually do something now.

I'm sure they are busy working on a new banner for the site, a link to the documentary (pay per view of course) or a button next to each team name to buy more credits. LOL

All I need is one representative card per player that gives a true picture of his talents, abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and a pricing algorithm that fairly represents his value. If (someday) the ATG version of SOM was based on career numbers or a peak 3 or 5 year period of a career, I think that would be ideal. Eliminates all the fluke seasons, the players with the best careers are worth the most, and hundreds of marginal major leagues are worth close to minimum salary.

How many do we need? For me the answer to that is we keep adding until we have ...

Every MVP season since inception of the award.
Every Cy Young since the inception of the award.
Every Rolaids relief man of the year award winner since inception and whatever took it's place.
Ever season's all star representatives.
Every HR champion
Every BA champion
Every OPS champion.
Every stolen base champion.

For each franchise the top cards at every position in 3 phases. Phase 1 the best card available for each position. Phase 2 ads the second best, phase 3 the third best.

We should have the gold glove winner for each position from every year in the modern era.

Then for each major stat anyone sitting in a major stat top 10 whether standard or sabermetric bases should be added.

Then any card with more than 500 PAs eligible for 4 or more positions.

Would have to take a deep breath and play a few teams with all the above before I could say I was done adding.

I love the idea of adding new cards and improving the game but I agree let's do this right. I still love playing so I look at the entertainment side of the game.

The thought occurs to me if all the man-hours that is going in to this process were used to enter data for new cards we could probably get 50 new cards a week. Or if it were put in to creating a script to directly transfer data from the cdrom data all the cards from all of history could be added within a couple months.
