Should I make this pitching change?

PostWed Jun 21, 2017 12:59 pm

My team: http://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1451519

I was 24-24 with a +4 run differential before I made several changes to my offense. That's been going well. I'm 25-17 with a +47 in the 42 games since the switch.

I have the division lead, but there are 5 of us within 5 games of each other. I'm not loving all my pitchers, but we're into the 10% penalty period. I'm considering the following change:

Drop Cliff Lee ($7.12 million) http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/903 ... 281/433082
Add J. R. Richard ($5.98 million) http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/400 ... 281/433082

Richard gives up more OBP, but his slugging vs. R is .075. My thinking is that a walk won't score anyone nearly as often as a single.

Is this a change any of you would make? Should I just leave the team alone while they're playing well?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

EDIT TO ADD: The other advantage of this change is that Richard is an S9 and Lee is S7.

No

After drop penalty your gain in money is neglable. Lee is too good against righties and as a leftie will see even more as he gets switchies to bat right.

I would probably not exchange Lee for Richard. Lee is a legitimate $7M quality pitcher.
Besides, your team is doing well in its current state.

Thank you both for your input. I'm going to keep Lee and see what happens. This is my first league, but I can tell I'm going to have trouble leaving a team alone and letting it play. I may be too much of a control freak.
