Barnstormers - why did I save Minute Maid till the end?

PostTue Sep 05, 2017 10:15 am

Stupid decision.

1 - I never win in this park
2 - checked all my past leagues and only found 1 winner in this park yet 2 or 3 ALWAYS pick it.

.....so why did I save this until the last round ?

Never again.

Who has success stories in this building? Definitely not me.

I'm in the league with you and it is extremely RH power heavy (6 teams). Hopefully you all cancel each other out and my small ball team can find a way through. But to your question, my best teams at Minute Maid have all come at the higher caps with a core of the big boppers hitting 2-6 or more, not as much success at 100M. Good luck in your division though, and I'll be watching to see how you fare.

My last MM team to finish a season, 93-69 and swept Druid in the finals.

My active team in MM - 15-9 in 24 games at $225MM.

A $140MM team from a year ago that went 93-69 and lost in the Finals.

But Hilltop is better, since you can always grab LH singles hitters when you can't get the RH boppers you want.

Here are a few MM teams of mine from 4 different caps, 80M, 100M and 140M and 250M. The 80M starts game 3 of the semi's tonight. The 100M team finished in February of this year and the 140M team is my current Barnstormer's team. I am of two minds as to which is the better park, Minute Maid or Hilltop. Craig is focusing on the offensive pluses with Hilltop and I certainly agree with that BUT Minute Maid gives you a better home field advantage against all the lefty sided teams. So for me it is pretty much a tossup between the two parks. I used Minute Maid in round 5 of the Barnstormers and League '34 in the 6th. I decided to save the best parks - for the given caps- for the last two and am quite determined to finish first in the overall Barnstormer's pre-playoff standings. So I wasn't screwing around with my 140 MM team.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/league/431994 This was a very strong league and I didn't have the best team but still managed to garner a ring.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/league/431842 I had 10th pick in the live draft and didn't like anyone so I took Maddux and Pedro with the first two picks, then stole McGwire in the third and then grabbed Walsh in the 4th. Not a typical live draft approach but planned Minute Maid as my park once McGwire fell into my lap.

Thanks guys. Interesting. ....definitely great teams.

I see Mays on a lot of those teams....and I happen to have him....but I was going to use the 10.83 version because I was using him in CF.

hmmmmmm

Ok, time to do my homework.

That Minute Maid crap didn't work on me. It seems incredibly silly not to have single left handed bat on your whole team. I just stacked up on right handed starting pitchers and shut that stuff down.
