I wish we knew a bit more into this logic. Since Strat has been around awhile, I'm assuming a basic "old time" baseball strategy. Righty faces a righty. Lefty should face a lefty.
Like I mentioned above, I can "see and understand" somewhat, the "logic" of Brewer facing Gibson. He's a 9R and @ F9. There's nothing on his card vs. righties. And my righty closer, Henke, is out of the game already. However, Gossage/Marshall and Balfour are sitting in the bullpen eating sunflower seeds.
The part I don't get is Franco, my lefty closer, NOT coming in to face Thome.
Though Brewer is a lefty like Thome, I'm assuming HAL "likes" this matchup. But like you said childsmwc, Franco is my closer vs. lefties, and SHOULD have entered the game here.
