The purpose of the Flying Monkey League, basically, is to give us died-in-the-wool ATG players some insight into some of the current crop of players we see on TV. It is an offshoot of the MFL, currently beginning its 83rd season. When I started FML up last year, one of my colleagues posted, "Who are these guys?"
Here's the deal: It uses the unleashed 2017 set, the salary cap is an unusual $88 million, putting a few more good cards into play than a more traditional cap.
DH is used, as are waivers. Drop penalty is 5%, so we'll all have a chance to make fixes throughout the season. Skill level is advanced, because why not? And of course, one team per manager.
There will be four MFL players in the league, experienced using the thousands of players in the ATG set, and not so much using the much more limited single-season set. Also we will not have our usual Diamond Dope crutch.
So start putting your team together now -- the league will go public later today or tomorrow, first come, first served.
May your Monkey soar to great heights in FML 2.
