Well, I should know better. I spent nearly 17 years living on Guam, and Spam, the Hormel kind, is a main dish in its island "cuisine". They have the world's largest K Mart open 24 hours a day, and one entire aisle in the store is devoted to over 20 different varieties of Spam. Amazing. Then there's this: "The tiny western Pacific island of Guam is far and away the world’s largest consumer of Spam. Today, Guam consumes more than 16 cans of Spam per person, per year — more than any other country or territory. In Guam, the salted pork shoulder in a can is central to local culture, with dozens of indigenous recipes calling for Spam."
