With each draft pick, you will be choosing a specific player card. In other words, for each player you draft, only the exact card you draft is eligible.

We will have a 29 round draft, comprised of 28 players and an exclusive park. We will run the draft on a clock, completing one round per day.

Teams can carry up to all 28 players they draft, although they will not be required to. No other player(s) cards(s) will be eligible for the league. In other words, the 28 specific cards you draft are what you’re stuck with for the duration.

In any round, you may forego a player and choose your exclusive park. Parks will be drawn from the 7 park groupings used in the Barnstormers tournament. Once 2 teams choose a park from a given grouping, no other teams will be permitted to choose a park from that park group.

THE DRAFT

ROUND 1: Order is based on randomizer. Teams will draft cards priced from $11.5MM to $14MM only.

All rounds after round 1 go in opposite order of the price of player cards taken in the previous round. Anyone who chooses a park goes to the top of the draft order the following round. If more than one pick a park in the same round, their respective order stays the same the following round.

Round 3: $9.0MM - $9.99MM

Round 4: $8.0MM - $8.99MM

Round 5: $7.0MM - $7.99MM

Round 6: $6.0MM - $6.99MM

Round 7: $5.5MM - $5.99MM

Round 8: $5.0MM - $5.49MM

Round 9 $4.5MM - $4.99MM

Round 10-11 $4.0MM-$4.49MM

Rounds 12-13 $3.5MM-$3.99MM

Rounds 14-15 $3.0MM-$3.49MM

Rounds 16-18 $2.5MM-$2.99MM

Rounds 19-22 $2.0MM - $2.49MM

Rounds 23-25 $1.5MM-$1.99MM

Rounds 26-29 < $1.5MM

TRADES WILL BE PERMITTED. You can trade players (again, must stick with specific cards) and draft picks. However, all teams must end up with exactly 28 players.

When the draft is complete, we’ll calculate the total salary of all 28 players on each team. I expect they’ll all be within a million or three of each other. Nonetheless, the four teams with the highest payroll will be in the East, the next four in the Central, and the lowest four in the West.

Usage Rule: In season, players will be limited, potentially, by real life usage for their cards. We will have audits after game 99 and again after game 126. At either point, any player over his real life IP or PA’s, as applicable, must be dropped from the roster. Position players rated 3 game injury or less (0, 1, 1) by Strat are exempt, as are pitchers with over 200 IP.

We are gearing up today, for round one to begin tomorrow.

I’m thinking that each day, the first pick will be due at noon eastern, and we’ll have a 45 minute clock past that. Which means the deadlines are

Your window opens at the deadline of the person in front of you, plus a couple minutes for mercy/manners.

It’s a hard deadline for the 12th pick each round as well, because Jay is going to tabulate the picks each round and post the following day’s order each evening or early AM, and we don’t want to keep him up all night. The rule here will be that anyone who hasn’t made their pick for the day by the evening will go to the front of the line the next day.

I suggest using proxies whenever your window is inconvenient.

SIDE NOTE: It would be fun to conduct a whole round inside of an hour, right? In order to do this everyone would need to be available at the same time, like 8 PM Eastern 5 PM Pacific? If we did it that way, we’d have a 5 minute window for each pick. I understand that would be really difficult logistically, but cool.

Theoretically the first round is the easiest round, we should try to do it in an hour (or a couple of hours?)
