why not just ask him

It is an ALT key code to get the symbol. There are many different ALT key code symbols. If you hold down the ALT key while typing 0153 you get that symbol like this ™.

Just putting a TM on something does not make it a trademark.
Paperwork has to be filed, and the trademark issued by the trademark office.

If you do get sued, you can always countersue. This is America.

I think I will name my next team the Riggo Drills....
