When the Dodgers got him in1974 he had shoulder and arm trouble, but he could still hit!!! He replaced Willie D (The 3 dog) in center, a very popular player, and helped lead the team to the world series against the A's. One of the greatest memories of my teen years was Joe Ferguson taking a catch away from Jimmy in game 1 and nailing Sal Bando at home.

Great play, amazing throw. The funny thing is if Bando had simply slid he'd have been safe as he almost reached home plate anyways. I probably never thought it would be close.
A die hard Dodger fan, I flew down to Houston to catch a double header on July 25, 1974. Told my Texas friends that Wynn was going to rip them a new one. Here are the boxscores of that double header https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxe ... 7251.shtml
