Small suggestion for ATG9.

PostFri Apr 17, 2020 9:58 am

In thinking about injury backups, I was wondering if we could have a drop down menu that says something like "bat me" and then 1 thru 9. This is for the games following the game in which the injury occurred of course.

You may have a guy like Bobby Clark as a backup, but he is so weak offensively that you might want him batting below your pitcher. Or you may have Ron Leflore as a backup, but if he has to play, you may wish to lead him off.

This is just to give some managerial decisions to add variety to the game.

What are your thoughts?

YES! In the backup menu. That way if you got an injury to Ruth in game 1 the backup would move down to 9th instead of batting cleanup for games 2 and 3. Seems like it would be a simple tweak .....not sure but would be great especially for your big time hitters. Or if a backup is playing Game 1 and You have Ruth returning for 2 and 3 a similar thing would happen where your backup hits 9th and then Ruth pops back into the 3 or 4 spot for games 2 and 3.
This would be a good fix if possible.

I looked at my recent team. When B. Bonds has been injured, the following games his sub has always batted 9th. The same team has Ted Williams who bats 2nd both ways, he has been injured for 2 games. His sub, Rod Gasper batted 8th the first time and 9th the second time.

I think the mystery game is the only one that doesn't adjust your lineup when a sub goes in. My biggest complaint has been them bumping everyone forward so Babe Ruth ends up batting leadoff too often.

Yep, the engine adjusts mostly well already. But more control would be cool for those cases that are not handled well.

My wish list includes:

A second option for each draft pick. Example: Eddie Collins 7.97 (second choice Frankie Frisch 7.63)

A second option for pinch hitters. HAL doesn't always seem to choose the most logical person after your first designated pinch hitter has been used.

These don't seem like super hard things to accomplish. But I'm not a programmer so what the hell do I know.

Yes, these would be nice also. I'm not concerned about any of this happening fast, it's really just food for thought.
