My educated guess is that if fatigue causes some dice rolls on pitchers cards to switch to hitters cards, the effect is pretty limited.
I say this because I used the 4 Aces strategy quite a lot before ATG9. Now that this strategy has been priced out of the market, why not talk about it? My approach was to squeeze every inning possible out of an array of 4 elite staters (all *SP8 or *SP9). I preferred a 100M DH league--so the SP wouldn't be removed for a PH. I would set all the *SPs to "Slow hook" and "Don't remove B4 F0." With those settings, my starters would generally pitch between 345 and 365 innings apiece. My entire bullpen of 50 cent hard lefties/righties would pitch about 30+ innings total.
A fairly typical version of that kind of team is linked here: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1516552
My starters would often end the game by getting the last out on the same roll that their fatigue factor dipped from F2 to F0. If anyone was pitching tired toward the end of a game, it was the *SPs on my 4 Aces teams.
The point I'm getting at is that these 4 Aces teams often showed a SLIGHT lean toward dice rolls on the hitters card— but the lean was never very much. On the linked team the rolls went 3098 (H) - 3044 (P). I found one old team where the rolls went in favor of the pitchers by about 150, but more often there was this slight lean of 50 to 70 rolls in favor of the hitter. I never saw a tilt as extreme as that reported by danielz. I think danielz's outcome must result predominantly from random chance. It does seem possible that there's a slight tendency to shift some rolls on fatigued pitchers cards to the hitters card.
For what its worth, a typical pitching staff on one of my ATG8 era 4 Aces teams would now cost about 4.5M more under ATG9 than it did before. So I'm gonna have to find myself a new strategy. But it was fun while it lasted! ;)

OL--nice team. SPs are the highlight for sure, but Slaught with 600ABs and a couple of the favorite cards like Lajoie made for a nice walk down memory lane. And great points.

One anecdote on the 4 aces strategy re: the pricing...currently am in a league where Tombar spent almost 50% on SP (48M in a 100M cap) and is playing above .600 (Petco)--staff has a 2.45 team ERA:

Am watching that team closely because like you, I couldn't make the math work for myself and chickened out.

Hmmm....so Four Aces might still work after all. Tombar's team is built along classic 4-Aces lines, complete with 50 cent bullpen. But with a 2.45 team ERA, you can definitely win, even with limited offense. I could never get a 2.45 ERA in 100M--I was happy with 3.85.

I'll keep an eye on Tombar's team as well. A general question is--will some strategies still work,

On my team, I figured I could use Slaught full time, even against lefties, because some of my other hitters were lefty killers. The team, I figured, would balance out and it was cheaper to go with Slaught than find a platoon guy against LHP.

OL - I also use the 4 Ace strategy, which makes a lot of sense for many reasons. I've been fairly successful with it. I also haven't witnessed it being as extreme, but some of the suggestions here about the way fatigue works warranted some comment.

As to it being "secret" and therefore mirroring real life, that doesn't cut it for me. If we were playing any other game of competition and strategy, chess or whatever, the rules are clear, and we can match our wits accordingly. And we put money up for the privilege if we don't have credits available. The "chance" element is already built in with the dice rolls. That is the way it should be - in THAT respect it mirrors the chance element of real life.

I'd like to be able to make an informed judgment based upon a known set of rules, and think that's the way it should be.
I know there is a chance element, as in life, with the dice rolls. I don't want there to be some "rule" of behavior that is determined by man that determines the outcome - and not be told what that is.

Btw, as to the 4 ace strategy. Got a team in ATG8 in a 60 Million league whose 4 aces have a salary of 42.54 Million. That's what, over 70%. So far so good - it's 74-55.

Doing just about as well in ATG9 with the 4 Ace strategy as in 8, so I wouldn't abandon it so readily.

Well, thanks for letting me know. 4 Aces worked fine for me in 8, but assumed it was priced out of the market in 9. Will have to take another look.

Here is the link to my team
93 games played
Pitching staff minus 181
Hitters minus 146

My pitchers have faced 95 batters while fatigued
56 of those rolls on hitters card, 38 on my pitchers card, 1 sac bunt
64 of those fatigued pitchers were from F5 to F8

11 wins 22 losses in 1 run games. Can't help thinking a few more dice rolls
on my cards would improve that.
