Question about Eckersley's cards

PostFri Nov 13, 2020 8:56 am

Can anyone explain why Eckersley - the original MLB closer - doesn't have good closer ratings on two of his reliever cards? This probably(?) doesn't effect the play in ATG, but it just doesn't make sense. I've shown Sutter and Franco as examples, for comparison:

Bruce Sutter (1977), 31 Saves, R3/C6
Bruce Sutter (1979), 37 Saves, R2/C6

John Franco (1988), 39 Saves, R2/C6
John Franco (1990), 33 Saves, R2/C6

Dennis Eckersley (1988), 45 Saves, R2/C1
Dennis Eckersley (1990) , 48 Saves, R1/CN
Dennis Eckersley (1992), 51 Saves, R2/C6

I think the ratings are a function of that time period strat was transitioning from old set of rules and chevy cards to modern rules and cadillac cards. I would bet if you bought the current cdrom game with these seasons his card does in fact have good closer ratings. This may be a good reason why all those antiquated cards need to be replace with their true super advanced versions.
