Fall Franchise Draft League - League Full

PostTue Sep 20, 2022 11:38 am

Fall Franchise Draft league:

6-team, 999M, DH. 4 round serpentine draft of franchises. Yankees, Red Sox, NEL, and pre-1900 unaffiliated players are excluded from the franchise draft but players carded to those franchises will be available at waivers and as free agents. After the four rounds, players from the four remaining teams will also be included in the free agent pool. You can autodraft any player having a card for one of your franchises - if you get that player, you can use any of his cards. If the Pirates get Bonds, they can use any of his SF Giants cards. If a player on one of your teams also has a card for one of the free agent franchises, he will be a free agent if not selected in the draft or is dropped during the season. For example, if the Indians do not select Speaker in the draft, he can be chosen by any manager at waivers since he is also carded to the Red Sox.

Choose a stadium from one of your four franchises. Trading will be unlimited. Order of selection will be determined by randomizer run by a manager not connected to this league. If interested, please be available to check in a few times a day to ensure the draft is completed in a timely fashion.

Just thinking:

Even if every manager is required to draft 28 players (which is a good idea in itself) because of the scramble for multi-franchised top eligible players, a lot of the high dollar "free agents" are going to wind up on rosters as auto draft compensation, probably more than the 4 spots available for dropping prior to waivers.

After looking at all the really high dollar "free agents" that might pop up on rosters as auto draft compensation, there would have to be at least 24 to cause a concern, but even if one team does end up with five of them, how do you handle that at waivers if he's only able to drop 4 of them. Trade to a team that does not have four? In any event, I think you should require that each manager draft 28 players (which they probably would do anyway in this format).

In private leagues, the commissioner has the ability to add players to any roster. In the scenario you suggest, the commissioner can add players to the roster with too many free agents and let those managers drop as many as necessary.

Oh - well cool - wasn't aware of that.
