I noticed the same thing. Looked odd just because nowadays the news makes a big deal of it if someone borrows a bat from another player and happens to get a hit. Those 1931 bats must have had rebar running through them to stand up to the punishment they took.

Thanks for sharing. Jimmy Burke (#31) was a coach for the Yanks. He pops into view towards the end of the clip hitting a grounder for infield practice.
