I can sort of get picking Murphy to play 2nd, as nobody available on my team was carded at 2b and Murphy was carded at SS, so OK. But here were his choices to go into CF:
Scott, T. S CF2(0)e7 4L .88M
Clark, B. R CF2(-1)e3 3L .53M
Velez, O. R DH - 3L .50M
So, the choice he made was the .50 DH only...to play CF... Certainly didn't pick him to pinch run as he was a D stealing rating and was 1-11 running and Scott is 1-16/A and Clark is 1-15/D. Also checked that Bobby Clark and Otto Velez were set to "avoid RHP" and there was a RHP in the game the previous inning, but I don't think HAL looks at that for defensive substitutions.
I absolutely don't buy that HAL went and looked at other cards not involved in this game and somehow saw Otto was a good choice at CF.
Velez never came anywhere near 2B in his life while wearing a glove. Makes no sense, but equally perplexing is why he was chosen to pinch run. I doubt that he ever did that either.
