OFF TOPIC: Jim Leyland

PostTue Dec 05, 2023 5:43 pm

Is it just me or shouldn't Billy Martin be in the Hall of Fame before Jim Leyland as a manager. I have nothing against Leyland but I just think Martin is continually snubbed. Its true that Martin was a very flawed human being but I feel like he's being judged on that and not his managerial record. I don't know maybe neither one belongs in the Hall I just think Billy was a much better manager IMHO.

Agree that I don't understand Leyland considering the others not in. Leyland was on the losing side most of the time in the big ones, but otherwise had a .500 record.
He hardly ever confronted players (a few notable exceptions there) and was a ride-along manager in my opinion, even if a nice guy who just smoked a lot.

Then again, I can't say I know which managers are HOFers outside of the obvious ones, so all in all, if the players and execs decide, then that's that. They have their clique you know and we aren't in the club.
