Successful Triple Steal - But WHY???

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/game/play ... 469912/103

Bases loaded, Cobb on 3rd, Milan on 2nd, MOLINA on 1st.

Settings: Team Extra Conservative - Cobb & Milan, no check mark - Molina set to Don't Steal.

Righetti on the mound with a -3 hold rating.

Why would HAL have them attempt a triple steal in that situation based upon my setting, TEAM IS SET TO EXTRA CONSERVATIVE which I thought should mean DON'T TRY TO STEAL HOME. Granted it was successful, but still trying to understand the reasoning.

Looks like it happened on the strikeout. Could HAL have been trying a hit and run?

I believe if the hit and run is on and the roll lands on a strikeout on the pitchers card (which it did), then the batter is out by strikeout and then HAL processes the steal results from there.

Hmmm, team is set to EXTRA CONSERVATIVE H & R and batter is set to DON'T H & R. So while that could explain the decision, but it doesn't explain the reason the H & R was attempted either.

Hargrove an “A” bunter - possibly a missed suicide squeeze with two strikes?

Team Set to EXTRA CONSERVATIVE
Hargrove Set to DON'T BUNT

Not being a naysayer and I appreciate your insights, but still should not have happened with my team and individual player settings.

I’m not aware of “extra conservative” meaning never steal home. If it’s not a rare play of some kind, then all that happened was Cobb stole home, even though you didn’t want him to.

Seems to be the only explanation.

Can't hit and run with a runner on third but maybe a busted squeeze.
