I believe this is a huge issue for most, because it rivals all other HAL's (idiotic, inexplicable) moves, the late inning def replacement "musical chairs" (when in real life, has ANY fucking team, replaced 7 or 8 players in the middle of half an inning ?!)

HAL sometimes does crazy stuff when you try to outsmart him. Keep it simple is the best answer I can give.

I agree, but when HAL keeps doing something detrimental, I have a hard time sitting and taking it.
Sounds like the problem was found though, so hopefully that will fix it.
Your replies made me go over ALL of my settings. I forgot to un-click "remove for def sub" on those players. It should be fixed now.
That was definitely your issue. If that is clicked, HAL will replace that player at all costs and without regards to common sense or defensive skill at a particular position. Basically, you said REMOVE HIM, so HAL will ALWAYS remove him.
