I think when you look at similar cards on the offensive side you’ll see that you’re paying up for the defense in a prime defensive position. Just doing quick scan of the player pool I think his offensive side is comparable to the 2010 Jose Bautista card which has below average defense at multiple positions including cf. that card is priced at $7.16m compared to Beltran at $9.44m. Neither player will hit many singles so I think you can throw the avg out the window especially at a park like candlestick. 90 extra base hits , 125 runs and 100 rbi you can’t really be too upset with. Especially with the elite defense he provides. Another similar card with great defense is the 97 Griffey jr card. That card has more singles and less walks though so the improved avg might yield better results with more rbi opportunities gained with the singles. That cards about .25 cheaper.
