Terrapin Park Team Advice

PostMon Jan 21, 2013 8:27 am

I'm in a NE Patriots' induced brain lock with my team. Missed out on more than half my picks somehow and have cobbled this together:

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/809918

90m - No DH

Division Parks are varied:
[ME] Terrapin (14-14, 2-1)
Ebbets 55 (13-1, 9-18)
Cleveland 63 (7-1, 13-7)
County 78 (15-15, 10-10)

Rest of the league is mostly pitcher parks (thus my poor draft).

I'm going to upgrade people before first pitch tonight, thinking of going with this:

10.54 Pedro
9.21 R.Johnson
4.47 Kaat
2.78 Hudlin

4.53 Murray
Glaze-Roberts-Reniff-Garman

O'Neil
Brouthers
Herman
Yost
Wagner (11.35)
Meusel
McGee
Ichiro

My holdup is centered around CA, SS, and 1B. I've got Mackey and Appling stashed on the roster. I'm not averse to using injury guys, even two or three of them at once. What I can't decide is which combination of these guys to use. Not much available at 1B for pitchers parks left. I'm considering Keith Hernandez or Frank Chance in lieu of Brouthers, but kinda like Brouthers' card. I'm considering the cheaper Appling to allow for Mackey.

Any thoughts out there?

I'd use the cheaper Appling regardless. Please please please don't spend so much on catching.

So much meaning my standby O'Neil or so much meaning my temptation to try Mackey?

Nothing to add, but thanks for an idea.

I go with music themed team names and managers, and I'll use your park for my next team.

Only spend 2m or less with guys like Pagnozzi or Roseboro and a platoon mate or a bunch of others...You'll get a little less production but use the 5m elsewhere...please.

That's what I thought too. It's been a long time since I used anyone but my cheap catchers so I was tempted to try something else. I've since soured on the idea.

So Appling or Wagner? Nev, you advocate the cheaper Appling, eh? Hmmm.... that opens up a lot of $$$.

Without re-doing the whole team, I'd go with the cheaper Appling... and because your guys are gonna make more than your share of errors either put the $$ into a big bopper to hit some 3-run hrs to overcome the Es, or into a big upgrade from Hudlin....Kaat matched up against other 4s should win 18+ easy.

Love your first 3 starting pitchers, hate you 3rd baseman. Ichiro and McGee are gold, Meusel should be fine but I never have luck with him. If I had extra money I would spend it on upgrading 2nd base and your 4th starter.
