IBB More or Less?

PostSat Mar 23, 2013 11:28 am

My team is at .500 halfway through the season. My fielding pct. and Double plays turned are around league average. I currently have Intentional Walks set as normal in my Team Strategy with only my ace, 1885 John Clarkson, set to IBB less. What is the common and most effective strategy involving intentionally waking batters? Thanks.

I don't have an answer, but thought I would bump to see if anyone else does.

always IBB less... always.

SOM decides when to IBB by the most useful stat, clutch hitting (yes this is sarcasm, come on in). So you could have a "w" power hitter with a bunch of singles and a +10 clutch get IBB more than say Bonds.

why play by SOM's stupid logic? IBB less, always.

I use IBB the absolute minimum. If what geekor says is true, I feel good about that choice.

I do it on principle, even if it isn't a good strategy.

In the team strategy section I always set intentional walk to extra conservative and never use the individual settings.

I double do it - extra conservative in the team section, and IBB less in the individual pitcher section.

Does the box score or play by play show IBBs? Thanks

Don't think so on the box scores, but in the PxP it says "Int Walk"
“I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault.”

I go extra conservative in a hitting park, conservative in a pitching park, and aggressive or normal if I'm facing a team with Bonds
