Stop Ruining Your Team...please..

We are 33 games into an 80 million dollar ATG8 season and one manager who does not appear to be a beginner is completely sabotaging his team. His team is now worth about 72 million and we are using the 5%/10%/20% drop method. At one point he picked up the over 8 million dollar Alan Trammell card and then dumped it before it even appeared in a game. He has already used Ripken, Wells, Trammell, Vern Stephens, Concepcion and now back to Ripken at SS.

I so badly want to ask him if he thinks he is playing the Mystery Game (even so these moves would not make sense, and again he does not appear to be a beginner) or why he is sabotaging his own team. I am worried about the fairness issue for that division as well as the whole league. But at the same time I do not want to come across as more of a jerk than I already am...

Should I just leave it alone? Thanks in advance for any helpful insight into etiquette or anecdotes of a similar kind.

You might notify onlinegamesupport; they could monitor your league and perhaps take action if necessary.

Okay, maybe not.

I think I'd let it go. If he keeps mucking around and his payroll falls below, say $60 million, then maybe ask him what's going on. But, I don't think your league will be won or lost because of this.

The down side being, when someone does this and ends up 50-112, the wild card most likely comes out of that division

My last 60 million dollar team started out terrible. Like your example I shed 10 per cent in a total makeover. We still wound up with a poor record but we went from a team playing .380 to a team that played .505 the rest of the way so you CAN turn things around.

Email SOM, they will take the team over. I've had that person in 3 leagues over the past few months and SOM has taken over the team each time.

Why they still let him play is something I don't understand.

If you look at his record, the vast majority of his teams have been 20xx seasons. I think he's just starting to learn the ATG 8 set, and is probably frustrated that he is having trouble.

Hey all of you guys bring up great points! I do not think it is yet to the level of having to notify SOM... Maybe rburgh is right! It is nice to be able to see a manager's past history... He seems to have settled down and has not made any moves for a few days in a row...His record is 15-27... He seems like a nice guy... Thanks again for the advice!

It is ABSOLUTELY possible I am referring to a different manager than the one in your league. Apologies if it is not the same manager.

A number of us have had a similar experience with a manager in multiple leagues, which is why we pull the fire alarm quickly when we see him and see his team salary shrink. Even the managers in his division aren't happy with the tanking even though they sometimes benefit by 5 or 6 wins and are able to get the wild card because of the W/L against the tanking team.
