Cool all-time franchise year lge. Loading West!!!!

PostWed Dec 07, 2016 6:38 pm

I loved this concept the last time. :) Please sign up below if you're interested! Could be either a 12 team league, or, if there's enough interest, possibly a 24 team league.

Here's the link:

Here's a copy and paste of the original post:

[created by MarcPelletier]:

"Hi folks,

I was interested in starting a league in which franchise teams would be made of every player available from a single year. This is your league if you are intersted in managing the 1927 Yankees against the 1975 Big Red Machine or 1990 Oakland As' Bash Brothers!!

Here is a list of teams that I put together after using the following constrainsts:
-Teams must have at least four SP, one pure reliever (ideally at least two), one catcher, one ss, and at least 20 players (a bit less for dead ball teams)
-Teams must have a payroll of 55M minimum (to insure a minimum level of competitivity)
-Teams must not have too many significant players with cards on other teams

TEAM NAME YEAR N_Roster $_Roster (approximately)
Baltimore Orioles 1970 21 61
Boston RedSox 1946 26 66
Boston RedSox 1967 24 57
Brooklyn Dodgers 1953 24 77
California Angels 1982 24 58
Chicago WhiteSox 1919 20 62
Chicago WhiteSox 1955 26 60
Cincinnati Reds 1940 24 63
Cincinnati Reds 1975 23 65
Cleveland Naps 1906 20 69
Cleveland Indians 1920 21 55
Cleveland Indians 1954 25 77
Detroit Tigers 1909 19 66
Detroit Tigers 1940 24 61
Detroit Tigers 1968 20 68
Detroit Tigers 1984 24 59
Houston Astros 1986 27 65
LosAngeles Dodgers 1977 21 59
Milwaukee Braves 1957 24 65
Minnesota Twins 1965 24 56
Montreal Expos 1994 24 66
NewYork Giants 1911 19 60
NewYork Yankees 1927 22 77
NewYork Giants 1934 24 60
NewYork Yankees 1956 or 1961 23 68
Oakland Athletics 1973 23 56
Philadelphia Phillies 1915 19 57
Philadelphia Athletics 1929 24 84
Pittsburgh Pirates 1909 18 71
Pittsburgh Pirates 1927 22 63
Pittsburgh Pirates 1960 or 1971 20 60
SanFrancisco Giants 1962 24 71
Seattle Mariners 2001 26 81
St-Louis Cardinals 1934 22 59
Washington Senators 1924 23 63

There are a few other teams that fit the bill if we proceed to the following instructions or teams that were lacking key players for whom cards were available for the preceding year

Chicago Cubs 1906 20 77 Add the 1916 Cubs pure relievers
NewYork Yankees 1939 20 90 Use 1940's Donald Atley instead of the 1939 card
NewYork Mets 1986 25 69 Add 1985's Gary Carter
Oakland Athletics 1990 25 60 Add 1989's Scott Sanderson
Philadelphia Phillies 1977 20 59 Add 1976's Tug Mcgraw
St-Louis Cardinals 1942 or 1946 25 68 Add 1941's Howie Krist
Texas Rangers 1977 23 60 Add 1976's Briles and Foucault

EDIT: as we try to get 24 teams, I expanded the list to these teams as well...only if we go 24 teams

Cincinnati Reds 1955 27 54.99
Toronto BlueJays 1985 25 53.54
Atlanta Braves 1982 28 53.51
Baltimore Orioles 1983 23 53.15
NewYork Mets 1969 23 52.55
Boston RedSox 1986 20 51.47
Brooklyn Robins 1924 20 51.22

So here are the rules I propose for the yearly franchise theme:

1) Pick any of the team above (first come first served)
2) Before season begins, all players with a card with the given yearly team must be part of the roster (even if this means having a roster of 26 players)--(with the exception of the teams listed above that have other instructions)
3) All teams have unlimited access to sub-1M players that are not in teams picked up
4) Format is NO DH (most teams are no dh)
5) Teams can pick any stadium (I thought it was easier to deal this without requirement, as some teams don'T have an assigned stadium)
6) Players that have cards for two or more teams and whose cards are worth more than 1M will be assigned to a team following these rules:

A) Priority to teams on which the players were starters (over 400 AB, over 160 innings for SP and 60 innings for relievers) and whose cards are worth at least 1M

B) Then, priority to teams that have a lower overall roster value

C) If a player has only cards worth less than 1M, then both teams must have them on their draft card, and selection will depend on the draft rank.

How that sounds?"

^^^ With the many ATG card additions, many more historical franchise-seasons will become playable. All that is really needed is enough players to field a decent team. For example, I picked the 1985 Toronto Blue Jays for my team, last time.

Please note that this is for people that love the idea of recreating historical teams, using ATG cards. It is not intended to "equalize" the chances for different historical franchise-seasons. So if you want one of your favorite historical teams, you might have to prepare yourself for some losses, when you go up against some of the true historic powerhouse teams.

GBrookes,

quick question on the rules.. I took the 54 Indians so I will get Al Rosen.. Am I required to use his 54 card, or can I use his higher value 1953 card when he won the MVP?
