LEAGUE FULL - SOM Franchise League

PostSat Jul 14, 2018 10:29 am

While watching this week's MLB All-Star Game, we all know that tere were some All-Time Great teams that were essentially as good as any all-star team! Want to play with one of those great teams?

cnbassman created a league called SOM Franchise League. Here are the rules he set:

Pick a team that has a fairly full card set in ATG, such as the 1906 Cubs or 2001 Mariners. Avoid picking a team near another year of the same team. For example, 1956 Yankees and 1961 Yankees cannot both be in league, just one or the other; two managers can't have Mickey Mantle and friends.

Then name your team as such, draft all of the player cards from that team year, and select that team year's stadium (if it doesn't exist, pick the closest available year for that team's stadium). You must draft and keep all of the player cards from your team year. If you need extra players to fill your roster, please draft low value players from the same team and a year relatively close to your team.

For example, I named my team "New York Yankees 1939" and drafted all players carded for the 1939 Yanks. Yankee Stadium 1939 is not an option, so I chose Yankee Stadium 1941. I needed several filler players, so I picked cheap Yanks from nearby years such as Atley Donald ($0.92m).

cnbassman set the league cap at $140m. No one is going to come close to that, but be sure to select $140m cap when creating your team.

There are so many great franchise teams to pick from, including: 1929 Philadelphia A's, 1970 Orioles, 1975 Reds, 1942 and 1946 Cardinals, 1934 and 1936 NY Giants, and 1946 Red Sox.

PLEASE LIST THE YEAR AND NAME OF THE TEAM YOU ARE DRAFTING IN YOUR TEAM NAME. Also please don't pick a team/year that will overlap players from another team already selected ('66 O'S hold have similar players to '70 O's team, same issue for ,'56 and '61 Yankees...too many of the same names on both teams). Thanks!

How can I tell which teams have a “fairly full” card set? I don’t see an ability to search by year.

Never mind. I signed up with 61 Yankees.
Looking forward to it.

Ps: you indicated that multiple owners were ok but the box says “no” next to that option.
Let me know. Maybe I’ll do a second team.

I noticed that too. cnbassman created the league, so we'll have to ask him what happened. Obviously, there's no way to throw a second team in.

Irishfalcon picked Oakland A's 1972, but I assume he meant the 1973 A's.

I wanted to join but does not make sense to me.

If ALL of the cards need to be from the same Franchise and same year, I don't see much to pick from.

If ALL the cards need to be from the same Franchise AND the players needed to play for that Franchise in that specific year (not necessarily have that year now for a card), then it's a bit easier.....but does not spell it out in the rules. Not throwing away a credit w/o knowing.
