WFT Is Leaving Rps in to F0 Most of the Time Now!

I RARELY look closely at play by play but when I do it's awful....Too many examples to post.

It's in the BP v3 documentation I think...

Super Reliever Phenomenon Fix. This fix solved the problem of great relievers being undervalued. Instead of just raising the prices and testing the outcomes, we added undocumented--ahem--proprietary scripting to the bullpen algorithm too--we call it the Pooper Reliever Experience. Instead of Supers, now managers can be rest assured that the Poopers get more innings. So now, everyone can fight over the one-sided Poopers instead of the Supers. And anyway, everyone knows an Experience is far better than a Phenomenon.

Though in all seriousness, the new algorithm is such a mess that HAL short circuits easily when there are too many business rules applied to the black box AI. I seldom have problems with relievers going inexplicably to F0. Usually HAL reliably switches them out--even the proper alignments for reverse pitchers. But I use very unconventional bullpen management, which I have been chided for on these boards, so I stopped proselytizing, but this is a data-driven approach, not a belief. In contrast, I typically look at the play by play results very closely. The adaptation I made for my own approach to the new BP v3 fiasco leaves me spitting nails at the morning results over BP management less often than it did prior to my shift.

I would listen carefully to what Frank has to say here. His results since his epiphany regarding bullpen management have been extremely impressive!

Bruce--I think it is more like the anecdote regarding squirrels and nuts or something. I have had a recent lucky streak. :tips his cap:

nev--top half of my comment was tongue in cheek and satirical.

But Bullpen version 3 is the collection of changes to the bullpen AI

I can be a little obtuse at times. For instance, you ever read Douglas Adams? (e.g., Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, etc) Yeah, he's my jam when it comes to how I view the world much of the time.

I would like to add that if your bullpen is full of r1 then they will get fairly overused and performance will degrade into the next games. This is particular relevant when your in a high offence parks like coors or something as your f9 starters may not make it till the 7th.

I do wish som would show when a reliever is unavailable for game due to fatigue

dunno...
thought the purpose of BP settings was to figure out how to use your RPs to maximum effect, not as much to figure out how HAL interprets the settings to get your RPs to do what you want them to, or at least lets say most of the time- at the least when guys are available...
Definitely think some transparency on availability/fatigue effects might actually be something we'd need (shoulder shrug emoji)
