Barnstormers 2022 Finals - down to the end

PostSun Apr 23, 2023 1:16 pm

It's down to djp_77 and cristano1 in the 2022 Finals

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/league/scores/postseason/464012

cristano1 trying for his 2nd Championship (3rd if you count his grazoontite win)

Right now - 2 games to 0 djp_77 has the Edge

He could wrap it all up tonight !!!

Hey cristano said he simmed it and wins 88% of the time so he isn't worried!
Funny thing is I won't argue with his thoughts because he drafted a 50 cent team and is in the finals ;)

Perhaps one of the more interesting parts of this Cristano Team is having 3 lefty starters......while playing in Minutemaid.
who would have thunk?
Cristano of course.
Down 3-1?
don't get too comfortable....

A few of us went lefty because the league was highly righty-biased. Look at team stats and records vs LHPs.
Take Johan Santana for instance--31 wins, 2 playoff wins, 9 shutouts, 1 no hitter, and won the MVP and Cy Young.

In fact I even dropped Marichal and another RH SP early season for Lefty Grove and Chuck Finley who both crushed it too. It was pretty clear that most teams had better offense and better defense against RHP so wasn't weird as it seems at first glance, even for a RH park.

But...as I said at the beginning of the season on these boards when Cristano or Max were crowning themselves as likely victors before we played an inning :P, djp77 had an asymmetric team dynamic. He had power from both sides, hit lefties only slightly less as well as righties, and was in a chaos park. He was a wild card and was the wildcard in the truest sense of the word.

And he did it--CONGRATS

*Note--I love the competitive chops of Max and Cristano, so bring on the banter--that was not meant to disparage them in any way of course.

lol thanks for your concern but I'll be okay. Obviously I shouldn't have been so overconfident in the preseason but I wouldn't change my team if I could go back, it was the right team for what I projected the environment to be. The environment ended up being way different than I projected but for me the game is about assembling the best team possible in the preseason; little else is in our control after all. I think this outcome for my team was probably 20th percentile or so but who knows.

At any rate we have a worthy champion now, congratulations to djp! Frankie's preseason prognostications indeed turned out to be much better than mine.
