DD is great at helping you balance out your lineups. Allowing you to see what your team's OPS is in your home ballpark. Which then allows you to decide how strong you want to be vs. LHP's or RHP's based upon the league makeup.
OPS is really the best barometer of the number of runs a team will score. If you look at your past leagues, generally speaking your teams OPS ranking will be "pretty darned close" to your teams runs scored ranking. Most often being within 1 or 2 spots. So knowing your team's projected OPS is pretty important.
You can do the same thing with your pitching staff, see how well they fare against righty or lefty batters depending upon the makeup of the lineups you will be facing. See what kind of OPS they might allow.
It also shows you a players NERP rating as well which takes even deeper factors into play such as double plays which don't show up in OPS.
Generally speaking it allows you to judge the true value of a player vs. his price and see who is the best fit for your ballpark.
