Let me remind people that the cards are not originally designed for the ATG format. The cards are built around the individual season in which the player played and the team for which the player played in order to re-create the said season. If you replay a season

Using Dale Murray as an example, he is rated an R4 because he averaged 6.5 outs per game pitched. Also, the defense behind Murray on that '74 Expos team was not very good; thus, Murray's card would receive fewer hits to account for the defense.

Its also a 60M League and a pretty good strategy for a league like that. He wouldn't post those type of numbers in an 80, 100, 140 or 200M Cap League.
