Leftfield, not surprised your team came roaring back. Your hitters faced over 80% righty pitching and just killed it. Spoony Palm with 49 dingers???

Basically if your team is structually sound, there should be no reason to break it up, especially if the changes involve the 20% hit on drops. I will make changes from time to time and it's luck of the draw - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I have a recent Barnstorming team in Hilltop that I made several changes on because I felt it wasn't put together well

This team is getting pummeled right now even after the changes and 20% hit.

Basically I dropped Wynn (6.14), A Fraud (9.53), Cronin (6.89) for Kiner (6.67), Hafey & Molitor (3.36) and the teams offense has improved. Wynn and Fraud are too inconsistent and too walk dependent so I made these moves knowing that I would take a hit at 3rd base with Molitor (4E30!!). I play at Hilltop and there are two Minute Maids in my division so my reasoning is to outslug my division. The pitchers on my staff were selected because they are hard righties (Wood & Barker) and in 80m leagues usually do good - but they are getting bombed.

This team is flawed defensively but I have seen 100 win teams with 4's at 3rd and 3's at 2nd, especially in a bomber environment such as my division. I have the feeling that Piazza at catcher is killing me (though he's seriously raking). I haven't had a team this bad in a while but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. This team has not swept a series so far - seriously.

Oh, and nice encouraging Strat story too. :D

I'm glad you share my feeling for Galaxy Quest--and yes, the guy w/o the last name was hilarious.

You know, I never realized I was facing so much RHP...I guess I was just "letting 'em play." But I did have a lot of RHB who were 1R, 2R, or even 3R, so I was trying to cover that base. And this does explain how Mule Suttles (a RHB but 3R) could be so good (1.264 OPS)--he saw so much RHP.

Spoony was amazing and I guess, as a 2R, he was also helped by the predominance of RHP. He not only hit 49 HR but led the team in AB as well...It shows how many injuries I had, when a Inj-2 catcher leads the team in AB.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. ;)
