RICKEY HENDERSON (1983) stealing-(AAA) *2-7,10/- (20-16) Comment - seems pretty good, like an AAA should be.
PETE BROWNING (1887) stealing-(AAA) *2-7/- (15-6) Comment - good at getting a lead, but that success rate
can't possibly be worth AAA rating
HURLEY MCNAIR (NeL) stealing-(B) *2-9/10,11 (15-9) Comment - Wow, looks better than AAA Browning

I find several AA and AAA ratings that don't seem to be very good at stealing bases. It seems like a big project to clean up, but I would rather have more accurate stealing ratings thank controls.

Here's why I disagree. You just figured out that not all AAA and AA are created equal, so problem solved.

How do I get Rickey to steal second every chance he gets, steal 3rd when he has a favorable pitcher hold/catcher arm rating, and never ever try to steal home?

It is my observation that dead ball players get watered down advanced steal ratings. The letter designations are more geared toward total SBs. The advanced ratings in theory also take in to account caught stealing. I think that many of the dead ball players research showed they had a high CS rate as well as a high SB rate. Or for chevy seasons where that data is not available the computer card generation assumes a high CS rate.

But this evaluation is a lot more on the subjective side than the objective side.

I guess I expected waves of indignation and barely got ripples and a few unicorn farts.

Steals of 2b, 27, caught 8 times. 77%. I love it, and I'd bet the most anti-running manager here would be happy about it.
Steals of 3b, 6, caught once. 85%. Still giddy here.

Steal of home, zero, caught 3 times. 00.00000%
2 of those games later went to extra innings, with the outs at home directly contributing to not winning in regulation.

Should I just be happy that Hershberger hasn't tried to steal so far this year?

I have a feeling some of those steals of home are after failed bunt tries.

15 games into the season, it was easy to check. 2 of 3 had hitters set to "bunt more", 1 with Bunt less, and H&R less. So you may be 2/3's correct :D

me too i always love new players, but until we get 32 team leagues, there are plenty of great players, even if i still can't draft Dick Ellsworth's Koufaxian '63 season and Dolfo Philips

I want to continue getting new cards. I see no reason to believe getting new cards has any relationship to whether strat can provide different team settings for SBs. So being the greedy American I am I want my cake and I want good chocolate icing on top.

I hope a unicorn farts in your cake
There are stories about making farts smell like chocolate.........

I play almost all $60M teams, so the new cards haven't been a big splash.

I heard anything a unicorn farts on instantly turns to pure gold.

Understand if you play all $60 mil or other lower caps the addition of high quality players will not help you much. But I really think the only way low quality cards are ever getting added via any kind of vote based system is going to need to be associated with whole team based additions. Adding for example the entire 2014 SF Giants would net us Brandon Crawford as a shortstop. But I could not see myself or the group getting excited enough about Crawford to ever vote for him from among a list of history's shortstops. And even if he got voted in while he would no doubt be cheap how would he be any different from any other light hitting shortstop in the set?

With that said I do not think adding cards is very time consuming. If I am right then there is no choice really to be made between new cards and any feature/improvement that might be desired. So if presented with the option/choice I am choosing new cards.

For those who are wanting more inexpensive low quality cards I think your best chance of getting that level card is to set aside your crusade for that and get behind something that, while not directly what you want, has a chance of success. My advice would be to come up with some team based concept and logic for adding new entire teams. Maybe that means lobbying for full teams of all World Series teams or whatever. Bottom line is you probably need to have an angle that can excite the average fan regardless of what cap they prefer.
