A couple clarification points -

1) We are going by official ABs, not PAs, right? So, McGwire belongs to the As (his 3.75M has the most ABs), not the Cards (his 11M card has the most PAs)
2) Using McGwire as the example - I can use any of his As cards, not just the one with max ABs, correct?

Thanks for joining and for reaching out for clarification - I definitely should have been more clear on this point. I am going with AB's and I'm basing it on the player's entire career (using http://BaseballReference.com as the source). McGwire belongs to the A's by virtue of both PA's and AB's based on this measure. That being said, you may (as you pointed out correctly) use ANY of his A's cards - of which there are 4 '88, '90, '92, '96. Note that if the A's are not chosen as a franchise, the McGwire A's cards are a collective free agent.

All - one more thing, and this may seem obvious, in the event a player played for one team more but wasn't carded in this set for that team, obviously he belongs to the team for which he has cards. The example, Carlton Fisk - more AB's with the White Sox, but his only cards in the set are with the Red Sox, therefore (and obviously) he's property of the Red Sox for this league.

Side note, I grew up in the town right next to where Carlton Fisk lived while he played for the Red Sox (he lived in Raymond NH). You could often drive by his house and see him splitting his own cordwood in the offseason.

The Curious Case of Dennis Eckersley...

When I was designing this league, there was (at least) one guy that I didn't account for who MAY need an exception. I don't think that changing the rules just for him would be out of line because how many players in the set are carded to two teams but switched roles? Such is the case for Dennis Eckersley. He has actually pitched more innings as a Red Sox pitcher but primarily because he was a starter for the Red Sox and a closer (he was pretty good, right?) for the A's. My vote is to grant The Eck an exception to the rule and make him an A for the purposes of our league. I urge you all to weigh in on this!

Also, if you can think of any others for whom this might be an issue, please raise it now because once the season starts, we'll strictly apply the original rule set.
