One thing to remember is that an average league involves about 17,000 to 18,000 PA overall (counting just AB + BB) per season, counting all twelve teams. If we're looking at two parallel leagues, that's roughly 35,000 PA total for the two leagues. Any individual player or team is floating in that vast sea of random events (aka PA's)
A lot of unlikely things can occur in the context of tens of thousands of random events. And if we count all the leagues running in ATG at any given time, occasional weird coincidences being experienced by a given player or a manager during the course of a season would have to be expected.
