Yes I agree--something not right--but hard to believe a few of those names would do something like that.

sjudd's explanation is possible but I just didn't view it as the most likely when I looked at the position player pool.

Either way, it still is the same outcome that the rules aim to prevent, that of fair play. But nothing restricts gimmicky or stupid league formation rules that could create such a scenario. It is "salary dumping" by proxy, but not in fact and does not seem likely it was the intent of every manager.

Who knows. But it's unfortunate Strat tries to add some interest and there is always someone who will take it to some extreme and live up to the adage that no good deed goes unpunished.

That's what I had said as well, there are some upstanding managers in that league who I would trust implicitly, but clearly something is going on with some of the other guys.

The dumbest theme league ideas ever. Yet we can't fill one Live Draft League with a reasonable salary cap between 80-100 million?

My favorite ones to laugh at are when someone comes up with an idea like, okay "carded team theme league, no players over 8 million. I get the Yankees, who's in?" ... Not me, that's who.

Someone created a league a while back where basically he got everyone he wanted and then everyone else got to pick from the leftovers and he couldn't understand why no one wanted to join the league. I am oversimplifying it a bit but that was kind of the concept of it.

What would the motivation be? At most 5 credits up for grabs, meanwhile burning 12 credits? I am not arguing for or against collusion...I am just wondering why would anyone collude over something like this?

Rich--I remember that too. Was bizarre.

Freeman...who knows. Sjudd is probably right in that it was not possible. Or maybe folks joined and then realized--WTF I can't fill out my roster. Maybe similar to what Rich said in the custom league no one joined, one person created a league where they had recognized the environment they were creating and everyone else just didn't realize it.

ATG is not exactly burgeoning with new players, so on the one hand I understand the attempt to keep the regulars interested. But as I have found in a few leagues with new players, many new players get turned off by the gimmicky stuff--it is just stupid and they either feel taken advantage of or incredulous at the lack of Strat "purity".

I don't care about the intent because it is unknowable, but if there are records and side credits at stake on the margins, then it affects people outside the league and should at least find a way not to reward that stuff. If folks want to do it fine, but keep its impact contained within that league. Maybe a setting that doesn't accumulate points or whatever if not conforming to league setup standards or something.

I think this is a situation where it certainly looks bad, but we don't know all the facts, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions until members of the league chime in with their own version of what really happened. SOM should try to contact everyone in this league first.

Amen. SOM should at the very least look at the situation and see what's up.
