If I was going to try this with all 4's in the field, I think I would try to target guys with lower errors. I would give Sewell and Joyce their walking papers for maybe Judd Wilson and Melvin Mora. Obviously the range will still be terrible, but at least they won't complicate the problem with a mountain of errors.

An update 1/3 of the way thru..
Playing way over their heads, best record in league so far in a very tough division.
Enjoying it while I can before it all crashes...

It appears that if you use the four studs strategy in ATG9 - tailored for your park - you will win, no matter who else you have on your team.

I'm impressed! Is it just me who has noticed this, or is it generally true that concept teams--teams built on a consistent set of principals-- have a way of doing well?

The first strat team I ever fielded, forget which season, I didn't know any better and put a SS48 (I believe it was Kevin Mitchell) and won the division. I still remember modeling the team in a traditional fashion. Stereotypical Ace, #2 starter down the line, great closer, 2 AA at the top of the order and so on. Sadly I stop playing long enough to forget my ID and started a new one years later. I think I had Gary Pettis and Bill Doran at the top of the order. I think I even chose Fenway Park without even paying attention to the BP.

Last night of the season. Did better than I expected. Hung in all season in a tough division. Will definately try this again, probably do an all righty team next time.

There are those here who persistently offer massively lopsided trades favorable only to themselves. For those folks, I see no reason to respond unless their offer is so egregiously one sided that it merits me offering Bud Weiser for Babe Ruth or someone of that ilk. Just to make a point without violating SOM policies for league chat interactions.

But if the trade is remotely reasonable I always respond, unless it is a repeat offender as laid out in the foregoing paragraph.

Trades are so rare these days with the deep player pool that most leagues pass without a single trade, or at least a trade I noticed.

But I totally agree that common courtesy dictates a response of some sort. For me it depends on the offer. A fair offer is met with a cordial denial. A silly offer is usually met with ... "Thanks but I don't see how that trade makes my team better."
