The answer is to allow add-drops that increase a team's payroll, not disallow all drops that result in <90%.

Seems to me that the 90% floor should apply to the sum of cash + payroll. What if you decide early in the season you should have drafted Dimaggio instead of Mays? Dropping Mays puts you under the floor. Doing it this way (90% of (cash + payroll)) does not prevent a manager from being stupid and having lots cash and a small payroll, but it does prevent dozens of intra-season drops, which I believe is the issue at hand. Also requires no special handling by the code logic pre and during the regular season.

That won't help if you're trying to shed salary PRE waivers.

I think we're all agreed there should be no floor before Opening Night. The question I was responding to was how to handle teams that do not get above the floor before Opening Night.

Ooh, I dig the simplicity, sounds like another viable approach.

But even though the object of the rule is well intended... the results are catastrophic...

Here's an example...

In a league where the salary cap is 80M$... the minimum cap will be 72M$...

So, you'll never be able to drop any player whose salary is over 8M$...

Think about it...

My team is Majestic Maulers, but look at Holland Homers who's also stuffed...

In Alphabet League 2, Holland Homers have only 17 players on their roster and cannot make any moves either...

Dear lord, how were they able to drop below the roster requirements in the first place? How did Strat manage to screw this up so comprehensively????

Is anyone in contact with SOM about this horrific blunder? Sooooo stupid.

If we were to use archaic baseball slag, this would be "SOM's Boner." Or as the English would say, what a muck up!

As mentioned, I got a quick reply from SOM saying they'd fixed the bug. "Thanks for your email! We've changed it so that the Salary Floor restriction no longer applies during the preseason." I'm glad they fixed it so fast, but am not sure how they let it happen in the first place.

Thank you, Outta Leftfield, it's appreciated. Hard to keep up with what SOM knows and is doing. Egads, but that's good news. I'll see it and then believe it, let's trust and verify.
