The team with 43 wins and 369 innings from Murray ended up winning the league championship and 2 free credits.

Hey,

Everyone who hates this issue, jump into my 100 mil - 24 team - no DH league and then you'll be happy !

I had TSN make a special "SHUFFLE DECK" consisting of R1 and R2 PURE RP's only. ..and had them take out all cards with less than 300 AB's. So no Gates Brown, Weintraub etc.....

Let's play !

Check out my other thread if you like but it's simple.

Search in the Shuffle Deck under "ATG8LITE" created by pacoboy (about half way down the list) and get a team in !

Has anyone seen a league where in using this strategy...the GM is not succesful in total team wins?
It's seems like every league I am in of late...one or two GMs...they are abusing a low cost reliever (setting things up so this RP will finish with 175 or more innings pitched) and these teams are always at the top.of the standings.
Always.

I'm starting to think it's a game engine issue that no player salary adjustment can fix.

I'm in one league where the GM is using a mediocre real life stat RP ONLY....and even with crappy results from that RP...that team is still leading the league in wins.

So. It doesn't matter who the RP is...just set it up to use one RP unrealistically usage wise...and whammy...you're one of the top team in wins.

Anyone see a team over use a RP like this and NOT make the playoffs?

Yes, I've seen teams win with all sorts of strategies. If you are one of the folks who doesn't care for Murray, Wilhelm, Miljus, Sutter, Wilcy Moore, etc, consider joining the 100m league with restrictions you might like being formed right now.

Or, if that isn't your cup of tea, create your own league with restrictions you like.

Sure. I've used the strategy both successfully and unsuccessfully. I generally do better without it. The weakness of super relievers is that your starters tend to bomb out early. You have to come from behind, game after game, and that doesn't always work out. Even if you end up with a good run differential, it doesn't go as far in the high-scoring environment.

I'm currently in a division where my team is dusting two good opponents who are using super relievers. Dale Murray is about to win 30 for one of them and his team is still 14 games back.

There are a lot of formulas for winning but very few of them are about realism. They all start with matching players to ballparks and getting the most possible leverage from your money, whether that's with super relievers or 300+ starters or cheap platoons or tilted ballparks. (Oh, and catching a few breaks along the way.)
