When I first started playing this game. I sought out high ranking owners and asked them for advice. Last Druid was always willing to share his knowledge. Here are some things that he taught to me through personal correspondence:

He drafted two OBP at the top of the lineup and hen seven hitters who could move the runners.

He liked RP's who gave up walks, nut not hits. Ex. Ted Abernathy.

He was an expert at 200M and wrote an informative article on his draft analysis of an actual draft.

He quit and refused to play in the Barnstormers, until I invited him back into play. He accepted on my behalf.

He was hard on his advice, but usually correct.

He loved to share his knowledge.

He liked the overall/cost rankings from JoetheJet.

He loved Willie Mays and Frank Thomas in high cap.

He was always at war with Moose and cristano1.

He loved nevdully and had great respect for him, especially in high cap.

He taught others to beat my platoon system by using multiple r-l rp's with quick hooks.

He was never negative to me and always friendly.

He complemented me publically as a good owner.

My prayers go to his family and friends.

That's beautiful and eloquent, BruceF, so well said, thank you for offering this perspective. You painted a portrait of the Druid in amazing colors, and I want to thank you and FrankieT and all the others who keep this particular thread alive so well with such great insights into our Druid, a true Renaissance man.

Now, The Last Druid is deep, deep in the dark and gentle woods now, grinning at us from ear to ear as we joyfully torment ourselves trying to win, win win :) Our loss and bewilderment is trying to do this without now enjoying his sublime presence -- who he was in all aspects -- and he was utterly comfortable in his own skin, fearless and yet benevolent. Bruce, let's be assured, did not go gentle into that good night, he was always a fighter of keen intellect and rapier wit -- with a most generous heart. A poem by Dylan Thomas comes to mind:

Do not go gentle into that good night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The Last Druid was an icon in this game. He skewered conventional wisdom and suffered no arrogant fools, and had an extremely warm heart and was incredibly generous in offering advice, and very loyal to his friends. He wanted to see people grow and get better at understanding the nuances and complexities of the game. And he thought in the bigger picture about the world and society. I still can't believe we lost him -- miss you, Bruce!
