with only keeping 15 core players before the 16=25 spots are a free for all, I think that some teams will lose good players. For example the Reds have more than 15 good players, so people can snag some good Reds in the 16-25 spots on their AD card.

This is free advice to all, look at those teams (like the Reds) with deep pools of talent to pick from. They are going to have plenty of guys for their 15 and you can take guys from them in the 16-25 spots on your AD card. This will be how the lesser "deep pool" teams get their extra 10 players....and they will be good ones.

*** more importantly, Geoff, you need to make sure that everyone knows (and is honorable) how to fill out their AD card. They HAVE to put the players from their franchise in spots 6-15 before trying to get players from other teams. Hence, Geoff's line about checking/printing out AD cards.

If someone cheats this, it screws up the league for everyone.

here's another thing that will help the weaker franchises. CTS pointed out that you can use a card not franchised to your team.

So.... for example, the Angels will probably end up with Reggie Jackson and use his A's (stud) year. I'd guess this because the A's and Yankees teams will probably get picked before the Angels. Thus, the Angels owner will pick before them in the 5-round draft and can lock up Reggie. This is one example of how the weaker franchises can even out the field.

another example of this might be Don Sutton (3rd highest $ pitcher in the set). The Brewers could get drafted after the Dodgers and thus pick first in the 5-round draft and select Sutton and then use his stud-Dodger card.

The Angels actually have many examples of this with Reggie, Lynn, Carew, and Singer to name a few. Guys with weak Angel cards, but grade years on other teams that they can use instead.

Great points Paul!

To repeat and emphasize what Paul said, the following instructions are critically important to make sure the autodraft is carried out according to the league rules:

Autodraft picks 1 through 5 must be the players that you selected in the player draft. If you had a supplemental draft pick, this will be your autodradr pick 6.

Picks 6 though 15 must be the remainder of your 15 core players.

Picks 16 through 25 are absolutely free picks. You can pick any players in the pool other than players picked in the 5 round player draft, or the supplemental draft. The players picked in the 5 round player draft and supplemental draft cannot be drafted . Other than this you can pick any player in autodraft picks 16-25 - you are not restricted to players carded to your team for autodraft picks 16-25.

And see Paul's excellent advice, above.

By the way, to simplify the game, if , in the 5 round player draft or supplemental draft, someone takes a player from the 2 franchises that were not selected in the franchise draft (which you can do even if they are not carded to your team), those picks will also be considered core players for your team.

From what I've been able to put together I think this is a complete list of hitters carded to multiple teams. Please feel free to correct me if you see something wrong, which I will of course blame on my computer. (Or my wife.)
I'm on the clock for grilling supper now, so I'll try to get to pitchers tomorrow morning.

no dave....see Geoff's latest. Any players you take in rounds 1-5 (even from the 2 non-picked franchises) now COUNT as one of your core guys.

so, in your example if you get the ChiSox and Cleveland goes undrafted, you could pick Sam McDowell and he'd count as one of your 15 core White Sox guys. otherwise it definitely WOULD make a big difference as you want your 16th guy on your AD card to be some non-White Sox guy that you can hopefully steal away from another team...like Larkin on the Reds....assuming he's not one of Cincy's 1-5 round picks which he wouldn't be since he's not multi-carded. then it's a guessing game...you have to try to find good players that the deeper teams may not put on their AD card in 6-15 spots (because they already have some other good player etc...)

that's definitely helpful to those teams that have a much more shallow pool of players to choose from.

I won't be able to make my selections until 6 years from now - after I get my masters and doctorate to understand all this mumbo jumbo - from the Sam Houston Institute of Technology, that's right - S.H.I.T. :o  :?
