We're temporarily filled. jfree can't draft until next week, so we'll give it to monday to see if any other vets check in with squatting rights. anyone on the list done a draft yet with SOM sight ala the Garcia posting? I'll send them a note and ask to set one up for us. also, if any of the vets still has the link to the 12 season draft matrix, post that here to newbies can get an idea how it shakes out season to season.
went back and looked at our last twelve season league, and it looks like in the last six or so, teams drafting in the top four spots dominated three of the playoff spots, with the 4th coming anywhere from 7th to eleventh. that's kind of to be expected, and the pleasure of getting those top positions a third of the time, but we could also explore a slightly lower salary cap if that's the consensus. the original idea is to have the cap high enough so you could have all the guys you wanted if no one else was there to weasel them in the autodraft, and to build a team, even picking late, that perfectly tailored your park and your theme of pitching, D, O, speed, LH, RH etc....

could this be 24 teams?

I've done this with a $120 cap and a $140 cap and I thought with both of those it was still possible to draft a decent team at the 12 spot. I think 140 is just fine, but if players wanted to lower the cap a bit I'd go along with that too.

As for a 24 team league, I have no idea what cap you'd need to make that work. I'd think 90-110 max. I'd be interested to try it. As long as I was still alive to see the 24th season

I wasn't involved in setting up the league so I don't know all the specifics but essentially a dream league is started by telling SOM that we want such a league and than a live draft league is started. Each manager than proceeds to pick their team as was done on DD but it's not necessary to fill all 25 roster spots. Those that choose to do so can simply go with a 24 man roster. To let the others know which stadium they want each manager posts in the league message board which one they chose.

We could, by its a lot easier to draft teams in a draft app like the live draft or DD. That way the treams drafting at the bottom don't accidentally draft a player that's already been chosen by a previous team. It's also a lot easier to search for players without having to constantly refer back to a list of already chosen players to see if they are available.

While we await a draft process decision, could we get the randomizer run so people can start planning their round 1 team?
