Participating in Barnstormers the past 2 years has easily been the most enjoyable part of playing this game for me. This has been due to your excellent management of the tournament, Moose. What a major bummer. The fact that you had to go through the depersonalized support line for communication with the company is such a steaming pile of horseshit it boggles the mind. Thanks for everything you've done! -Matt

SOM Responds:

Hi Rick,

We sincerely appreciate your efforts over the years in running this as we know it's not easy. You have done a fantastic job running the Barnstormers and we apologize if you felt there wasn't enough communication between us.

As we move forward, is there anyone you can recommend to take on the Commissioner role?

Sincerely,
Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

Moose Responds: Notice there is no name on the e-mail to me.

No because I wouldnt want to give anyone the burden of not knowing who they were talking to or being the cause of their distress when you didnt respond timely to their requests.

You brought on the demise of this tournament, not me.

I'd recommend Bernie Hou, if I were you.

Actually I would be willing to run it myself if the following non-negotiable terms and conditions are agreed to and then fulfilled by SOM:

I get 15 free credits added to my SOM account for each year I run the tour and I get to add 10 free cards of my choice each year to the ATG Player pool as compensation for services rendered to SOM by keeping the BS tour afloat.

I will also require email responses by SOM within 3 business days to any communication I initiate with SOM.

I don't care with whom I am communicating at SOM as long as the responses to my outreach requests are met within the above time frame.

What about John Garcia who has a lot of time on his hands since he is no longer writing 'Garcia's Blog' and see how he is treated by lack of communication and experience first hand by his own company!!! Since he doesn't play, he won't ask for free credits. Hey, what about Hal HIMSELF!!! :D :D :D :D

Oh, I did try to call SOM (5 times) and got the usual 'no answer, we are too busy recordings'...

There is obviously so much that is wrong here, almost a classic case study of how not to handle a long-time customer, a highly-valued collaborator and an all-around good guy. Even the merest whiff of suggesting that you Moose are ultimately responsible for not understanding the lack of communication ("...if you felt there wasn't enough communication...") is insulting at the very least. "Thank you for your service. Here's a goldish-plated watch (battery not included)" would have almost been more welcome.

Thank you, Rick. You are a gem. I don't think that SOM understands just how much they are losing. We do, though.

I did not start playing in barnstormers until the last few years. It turned into my favorite part of playing strat on line. I will sure miss it. Thank you Moose for your years of service to the strat community. I wish someone else could take the baton from you and keep it going.

Moose, sorry that you're hanging up the Barnstormers -- it was a good tournament and you did a great job organizing it. I'm sure you'll miss the high pay you were getting for it. But it is pretty clear that SOM did't see the tournament as a very high priority, even within the context of their not seeing the on-line game as much of a priority. Good luck in all your future endeavors.
