Hey I just got a $20 credit from ebay for being "there from the beginning" when they opened 20 years ago. Shouldn't SOM give some kind of "reward" to all of us who were there at the "beginning" ? Just sayin.

Sorry Mumford--it was sarcasm that was veiled more than I thought, and not directed at you.

This was originally title All-Time Great *Teams* and it featured what was considered the best *team* from each franchise (26 teams?)...The total player pool was maybe 700 player cards and we fought long and hard (really begged) to get an Ernie Banks card added to the Cubs franchise... We were told "no" to that single card addition for probably 2 or 3 years ...Fast forward to now, and we have 3 different Ernie Banks cards and what, about 700 Barry Bonds cards

The game grew very slowly into what it is now...and at a snails pace, always needing constant prodding from the faithful vets that played often to get changes and improvements made. (took time but at least they listened)

And now

It is leaps and bounds better and about as different from the original as you could imagine (I could write a book)

It really is quite a story...Each version of the game from ATG - ATG9 (including ATG 3.5 ) had it's own stories of fixes, improvements and additions. In totality Harry Potter has nothing on us!

I attended one of them. Rob55 beat me handily. That was also my first time playing the dice game. Yep B.o.b.b.y

To this day I still drink my coffee out of a blue coffee mug that he (Bobby) gave me (us) that has National Baseball Hall of Fame on the side.

Funny you mention the coffee cup. I play with my brothers in law frequently. We always laugh about how our coffee tastes good or bad based upon our results each morning. Often the team name is based upon good or bad coffee.

what's with all the nostalgia? I love it, don't get me wrong.

Here's a memory. I recall once going away on a camping trip for long enough that I was worried my teams would suffer from my absence. Well, I found a nice pinch hitter. I got Nevdully to manage my teams while I was gone. That's kinda like having Ted Williams pinch hit for Buck Weaver.


I think Nev had me run his teams once to return the favor. I don't recall making much impact, but it was fun.
