I feel SOM is guilty of a "HIT AND RUN". The only difference is that they left a "I'm Sorry" note at the scene of the tragedy.
They left the victims to deal with the headaches, stress, anxiety etc.
As I said many times before I love the game but now I don't like or trust the company. I have some unused team credit that may never be used now.
I will give OOTP a look.

I just heard about it for the first time this morning although its been around for years.
Its "out of the park" baseball game. It suppose to have its strengths and weaknesses compared to SOM. Don't know if its for me but I will check out its website.

what is OOTP

It's Out of the Park (OOTP) baseball. It's pretty cool I have the 2011 version I think and I bought it on Amazon a couple of years after that for $9.95 . And as stated you pretty much get everything and I know the new versions have even more. But I have played a whole MLB season (2010) and the Mexican Pacific League which is a 64 game winter league. You can get super detailed and involved in developing players, salaries, trades and of course managing. And if I remember right it's totally customizable. In fact now that I think about there is someone in the community here (longtime ATG player) that is into it in a big way and they posted what type of leagues they were running and one that stood out was a league that took place in the 1880s in Australia. Now of course that is totally fictional but it tells you how customizable it is as a platform. I think in the newest version you can also play historical Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese seasons as well as both Mexican Leagues and others. It's really only limited by your imagination. If anyone on the boards (and I know there are) that is really into OOTP please chime in. I'm still a novice at it but find it very interesting.

I'm not sure what else they were supposed to do. They emailed me right away and while I did have to get a new bank card, it didn't cost me anything but a bit of inconvenience. This has happened to me a couple of other times and had nothing to do with Strat.

Now a couple of free credits would be a nice salve...

Bill I think people are upset bc
1) SoM did not email everyone right away. Many of us found out through league mail a few days prior, specifically bc they only emailed SOME folks.
2) many suspect that the dates provided by SoM are not accurate and that the breach happened perhaps weeks to months prior to their discovery of it-- and what they claim the dates to be.
3) Yes, some sort of something that shows any sort of real contrition or caring that they are responsible would probably be at least something.
4) tangentially related- a number of managers who bought an entire 6 or 12 team league found out after the fact that there are zero playoff credits awarded for those leagues. Given that at least four managers had no idea that was the case, you'd think a good company might fix that - managers who spent a bunch of money on this product- but similarly as you might expect, they only replied with the typical 'caveat emptor' style they are so famous for.

Thanks for the details. No clue why they only emailed some of us. I had fraudulent transactions attempted within 48 hours of the email, so that seemed accurate.

I have no idea why they wouldn't offer playoff credits for the commissioner leagues. Seems like an easy fix to me.

Perhaps with all of pandemic driven additional business, they are sitting tall in the saddle again and are taking their online customers for granted.

Bill, as a company they remind me of the "cowboys." And we know what the Immortals did to them!

My American Express was hacked on Jan 19. AMEX sent me a fraud alert text that morning, catching the fraud attempt. The card was cancelled within the hour.

AMEX called me the very next day on Jan 20 identifying that the hack came from SOM.

To date, I haven't received ANY email or communication from SOM.

The only word that comes to mind is......CALLOUS
