POLL ... Is there some kind of RE-injury bug?

Moderator: Palmtana

Do you believe there is some kind of "Re-Injury" code in HAL's Black Box of Tricks

Yep, seen it too many times to deny it exists!

I have a database of 500 ATG9 leagues from 2020. I'd analyze any of this nonsense if I thought it would change anyone's mind.

You don't think it would? I am pretty confident 500 leagues would show a normal distribution that would put it to rest.

People believe this stuff because they want to, a normal distribution isn't going to change the things they want.

Data is not going to change anyone's opinion about "I'm getting screwed !!!"

Same from both sides bc I've been down that path with the Charlies on this site...give them a season they say it's not 50 seasons...give them 500 seasons and they say "but what if we looked at another 500"....

The thing is that sometimes looking at the overall data isn't whats needed-
you have to look at WHO is getting injured and how frequently-

For example:
shouldn't an injury 1 1-3 get injured similarly or slightly more often than an injury 1 1-15? (bc they latter is out longer, therefor should be less overall ABs)
Is that whats happening?

Another thing that needs to be checked- does SoM aggregate your rosters injury chances?

Admittedly anecdotal, but Ive noticed when you have some higher frequency inj guys, some of the 1s tend to get
hurt more often.
Again, not claiming this is anything but observation-

However, simply looking at the overall amount of injuries doesn't give you the full picture.

Is there a bug that causes players that hit a home run to hit another in ther next at bat? In the other thread celebrating Gomez 6 consecutive Home runs that is 1,541 times less likely than a catcher with an injury on 2 getting hurt as he did in 80 games. If you take into account it takes 80 games to see the injury "bug" there should be 20 examples of a player being hurt 5 times in 80 games for every player that hits 6 home runs in a game.

Depends....sometimes there's an, ahem "momentum bug" that might cause that... or an, ahem, an unseen "pitch around bug" that might be preventing that.
