I see both sides of the issue...over saturation, but as Mattw pointed out, it's not as bad as all other major sports....
however, i detest the 3 game series....I don't think that gives the better team enough margin, and playoffs should in some ways favor the better regular season teams
To that end, I'd prefer
2 wild cards, and they both play each other in 5 game series (or 3 games only, I could live with), and then that winner plays the team with the best record in Divisional Series while the other two division winners meet....and both the divisional and LCS should be 7 games IMHO
but, that will likely never happen....I don't think it's ever happened in the history of team sports that a league (or sport) reduced the amount of playoff teams.....not with ownership calling the shots.....we'd best enjoy what the current situation is, because history dictates that perhaps at some point, 29 teams will make the postseason ;-0
