Here's an instance of that great Communist leader, William Howard Taft, using "going forward" in his 1912 State of the Union address:

In order to make possible the more effective performance of the work necessary for the confinement in their present channel of the waters of the lower Colorado River, and thus to protect the people of the Imperial Valley, as well as in order to reach with the Government of Mexico an understanding regarding the distribution of the waters of the Colorado River, in which both Governments are much interested, negotiations are going forward with a view to the establishment of a preliminary Colorado River commission, which shall have the powers necessary to enable it to do the needful work and with authority to study the question of the equitable distribution of the waters. There is every reason to believe that an understanding upon this point will be reached and that an agreement will be signed in the near future.

The motto of Wisconsin is also Forward. Introduced in the 1800's by an immigrant from ...Russia.

Moving ahead, I'll not use going forward.

Actually, I find it odd that charges of 'pinko', 'communist' and 'socialist' still are said by some with disdain, as if they are some sort of evil against 'democracy', which we dont even really have. Is it some sort of by-product from the McCarthy era that still resonates with some?

I was watching football yesterday and was wondering if we should now call the forward pass a moving ahead pass? or henceforth pass? :) ;)

It was a double-plus good pass.

I guess we need to start calling the 3's and 4's in basketball something new now too -- maybe power aheads and small aheads or power henceforth's and small henceforths maybe? :? :)

Is a forward pass called a going forward? No
Is a forward in basketball called a going forward? NO
Is having your mail forwarded called going forward? NO

The word forward has a place that it fits the situation and moving ahead, I will just not use the term going forward.

Hopefully , you will see what I'm talking about now that its been brought to your attention.

I'm off to Vegas for a week, moving ahead and hoping to have a fantastic time.

The answer is obvious. You have evolved past all the lower forms of men. Congrats.

Seriously, maybe try reading things from viewpoints you don't agree with, obviously that would be people like John Stuart Mill, DeTocq, and maybe even Descartes (evil God worshiper and all though, so be warned).

I have a red book (yes, it is indeed red) Essential works of Marxism, edited by a similarly thinking author.
I can say honestly, anyone who owns property and appreciates true liberty would likely not agree with the methods. Maybe the motivations, and maybe even the inevitability (direct democracy=mob rules now as Mill warned against)--but not the methods.

They are not obvious--they are insidious and hey are us.

BTW--neither of the two Statist parties we have in government are a real alternative to our relative decline following our initial momentum vector which carried us along a ways.

Macnole;

Insulting an 'ism' is similar to insulting a religion which many people do. They fail to recognize that its about a persons or group of people's interpretation/actions about the doctrine- and mostly not about the doctrine itself.

SO...when a person says 'PINKO COMMIE' with the disdain I aluded to earlier, what are they insulting? True communist way of life which doesnt really exist anywhere except in books about Utopian societies or are they insulting a percieved threat on unchecked capatlism which was acted upon by McCarthy and Roy Cohn?

 wouldnt it be nice if you stopped trying to 'score points' when I write stuff and actually engage in a real conversation, or don't...theres lots Id like to learn, but I dont think it goes both ways.
